Mladen Vukmir

protector, mediator, gourmet

Mladen Vukmir was among the first to deal with intellectual property protection. But as it's in his nature to choose alternatives, in recent years he has turned to alternative means of dispute resolution and mediation.

A former rock critic for the student magazine Polet, that has u cult status, instead of critisizing he has chosen to protect copyrights of rock musicians. In big picture that means he has specialized in the protection of all forms of intellectual property.

In 1989. he earned his master's degree in intellectual property in the Franklin Pierce Law Center University, Concord, NH, USA. After that, he worked for a law firm Fenwick & West in California and the Italian law firm Pavia e Ansaldo in Milan. Two years later he founded the law firm Vukmir and associates, and soon became a counselor of the State Intellectual Property Office. He was advisor for the Government, the World Bank, European Commission (CARDS 2002, assessor, IPA 2008) and the World Intellectual Property Organization.

The process of understanding the ownership of intangible assets should be primarily a social issue Vukmir emphasizes, and he'll dedicate his 18 minutes to this subject. There may be also a space for nature and culture of food and wine with which is, this persistent patron of intelectual property, also preoccupied.

"There is no exit from the transition mill without creating social welfare on intangible goods made by creativity."
